Happy Friday!

We are beginning to plan out our trip- we are a little over a week away. BAH! We only have 8 days so we are going to be staying mostly in Paris. I wanted to put a call out for any recommendations of day-trips!

We are thinking Mont St. Michel. Has anyone ever been, is it worth the 5 hour drive? I hear the Normandy coast is beautiful! I have been to Versailles, but Joel has never been, so we might do a day out there. Our french friend, Ludo, is suggesting  Les Chateaux de la Loire.

How magical is this place?
Have a great weekend and thank you in advance for any great tips!

  1. YEAH YEAH YEAH! I am tres excited. Can't wait to catch up. xoxo

  2. I don't know you but we have a few mutual friends and we both live in LA! Anyways, I just returned from 2 weeks in Paris. Versailles was packed with wall to wall people (no exaggeration) which made it completely unbearable inside. Since it is high season now, it may be like that when you go :( I absolutely LOVED Fontainebleau and the gardens there. Though smaller in scale (but still enormous), I found it even more lovely (and it doesn't hurt that it gets far fewer tourists than the famed Versailles). I've always dreamed of going to Mont St-Michel -didn't make it this trip. Hope you have a blast!

  3. Amanda- Thank you for the heads up!! So good to know, crowds can really kill the experience. (I had a similar experience when i was in Venice)

Love that you're in LA. Hopefully I get to bump into you!

  4. The Normandy coast is GORGE but if you're deciding between the two I would definitely do Mont St. Michel, it is so delightful and a little fantasy, I LOVED it there! Have such a blast, yay for Paris! BTW...we need to get together soon:)!

  5. Go to Monet's Gardens in Giverny. It's about an hour train ride from Paris (I think) and then a bike ride through amazing scenery for a few miles. Seriously the funnest thing I have ever done.

  6. St. Michel is beautiful. If you go that far though I highly recommend Normandy. The remnants of D-day are humbling. If you haven't done London it's only 3 hours on the train. Check Ryanair when you get to Paris and see the weekly specials. You can fly in somewhere one day and back that same night for 10 Euros each way. You'll be surprised the great places you can go...quaint places too. I highly recommend hoping in a taxi and asking the driver to take you to the tunnel that Princess Diana died in. It's crazy to see the dilapidated pole still there. And the small memorial is on top of the tunnel. I would have never found it on my own.

  7. i LOVE all these suggestions! Thank you thank you.

Jenna- I remember seeing your pics and they werer gorgeous!

Mary Martha- I want to check out Normandy. I studied abroad in London but actually never went to hte tunnel. I need to make it back!
